Hurricane Katrina

To help the relief and recovery work

It has been over four months since Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita hit the Gulf Coast. FEMA and several other agencies have left the area and the devastation is still great. These people are no longer in the national spotlight, we must NOT forget them.
Pastor Christine is forming a mission team to include our community as well as our church family. The trip to Biloxi, Mississippi will be February 18-25, 2006. The cost is only $400.00 per person, which includes airfare.
Please contact the church office or Beverly Jones at 203-671-2917 if you would like to participate or help in this continuing mission project.
Let us not forget those that need our help!

Monetary gifts are still needed. UMCOR is prepared to send relief workers and support for other agencies engaged in on-site relief efforts. Donations should be made to: “Hurricanes 2005 Global, Advance #982523.” Local church contributions should be sent to The United Methodist Committee on Relief, General Board of Global Ministries, 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10115. Do not send funds to the New York Conference Office as this only delays receipt of your gifts by our relief agency. Be certain your check contains the Advance number above and the name and address of your church.

Flood Buckets and Health Kits will be needed as relief efforts progress. However, we reiterate, the urgent need in these initial moments is for monetary gifts. For information on how to assemble these kits and where to deliver them, visit the New York Annual Conference Website: www.nyac.com and click on Flood Bucket Contents and Drop Off Information.

Individuals may give through their local church or send their gifts to UMCOR directly at the above address. To donate online to UMCOR's relief efforts, visit www.methodistrelief.org.

All contributions to UMCOR will go – 100 percent – to this relief effort.
