Church Council
The Church Council plans and implements the administration and programs of the congregation. It is accountable to the Charge Conference which meets annually to review our connection to the general church, evaluate our total ministry, adopt goals and elect leadership to fulfill our objectives.
Chairperson (Sally Cotter) schedules monthly meetings, prepares meeting agenda and presides over the meetings to facilitate a smooth flow of information.
Secretary (Evelyn Scaglione) maintains a written record of council and charge Conference meetings
Lay Leaders (Bob Hale & Mickey Brown) promote awareness of the role of the laity in the congregation and represents them on special occasions.
Lay Member of the New York Annual Conference (Mickey Brown) attend annual conference sessions and interpret the actions of the annual conference to the congregation.
Staff-Parish Relations Chairperson (Jill Hale) counsels and supports the paid staff; evaluates their work, recommends salaries, and works with the conference cabinet in the appointment process.
Trustee Chair (Gerald Cotter) supervises and maintains church property, endowments and bequests.
Finance Chair (Don Shogren) provides a budget for and manages the congregational finances, including reporting the status in a timely manner.
Stewardship Chair (Mickey Brown) encourages contributions of time, talent and resources and arranges campaigns as needed.
Church Treasurer (Carol Bell) pays budgeted expenses and keeps records of all expenditures.
Financial Secretary (Don Shogren with volunteers) counts offerings and records individual contributions and all other receipts.
Auditor (Tom Symmes) provides an annual audit of all church funds.
Church School Superintendents (Laura Attanasio & Karen Thelin) Plans educational ministries for persons of all ages to enable them to know God and discover ways to live as Christian disciples.
Evangelism Chair provides a welcoming atmosphere for developing a relationship with God.
Worship Chair (Jill Hale) enhances the worship services by arranging for ushers, greeters, communion stewards and appropriate arrangements in the sanctuary.
Missions Chair (Beverly Jones) educates about missions and provides opportunities for service and support by the congregation.
Member Care Chair (Nan Hawes) demonstrates love and concern for the church family, especially those who need encouragement and have special needs.
Family Life Coordinators (Corinne Brown, Karin Thelin) provides special fellowship opportunities for the congregation, i.e. a summer picnic, apple picking trips, carry-in dinners.
Communications (Sue Alexander) communicates through many means, the programs and mission of the church internally and externally.
Historian (Sue Alexander) manages records and provides church history material for members and guests.
Scouting Liaison (Richard Desrosiers) links the church and Troop 55 Boy and Cub Scouting program.
United Methodist Men President (Dennis Scaglione) represents the men's group which provides fellowship and opportunities for service.
United Methodist Women President a local unit of UMW which provides funds for the work of the General Board of Global Ministries and local missions along with friendship and programs for women.
United Methodist Youth Group representative provides a link between the youth activities and church council.
